Losing weight after pregnancy and regaining their old figure can often feel like one of the most daunting tasks a new mother is faced with. With all of time and care that’s involved with properly tending to a newborn, losing weight is often far from being a real priority. But, following these simply pregnancy weight loss tips, you can begin to feel better about yourself within days, and be on your way to a healthier lifestyle.

Start Setting An Example Now: Now’s the perfect time to start setting an example for your child that will allow them to live a healthy life, and view food as it should be, as a source of sustenance, rather than sheer enjoyment, as it’s so often seen as. Good eating habits are best learned at an early age, as this is certainly one instance where what you don’t know, really won’t hurt you. It’s far easier for the whole family to begin eating healthier now than years later when your child is suffering from problems due to being overweight.

Eat Smart: In addition to eating the right things, knowing how and when you should eat them will also have a great impact on whether or not you’ll be able to successfully keep the pounds off. Eating certain foods at the right time will help your metabolism to be as effective as possible. Never go for long periods of time without eating, especially when you’re breastfeeding, as not only will you be too hungry to make smart decisions, but you’ll also slow down your metabolism in the process.

Walk it Off: Make it a point, indoors or out, to walk for at least 20 minutes a day. We know how hectic being a new mom can be, but 20 minutes really isn’t too long to devote to the health of the mother of your child, now is it? Brush your hair, brush your teeth, moisturize your face, read, watch television, talk to your spouse, talk on the phone, listen to music, or simply get into a zone as you walk on the treadmill. If you have the luxury of walking outdoors every day, by all means do so, and take your baby when possible to give them the fresh air and stimulation that all infants need.

Water Works: We’ve all heard about the many benefits of water, and how it’s essential for literally every organ in the body to function properly, but have you actually realized how much it hastens the weight loss process? Besides being an appetite suppressant and making us feel fuller faster, water also speeds up the metabolism, and the colder it is, the better.

The Benefits of Breastfeeding: For many women, breastfeeding helps to burn off calories and keeps that postpartum weight from piling on. Of course, while breastfeeding your baby, you’ll have to make certain that you’re eating not only the right type, but also the right amount of calories to give your growing infant the nutrients they must have to thrive. Despite the caloric increase, breastfeeding mothers generally have a far easier time of losing the extra pounds than those who choose to bottle feed.
