Finding Genuine Hoodia Supplements

Hoodia Gordonii is one weight loss supplement that has really been making waves in the past few years. Whilst this product can genuinely help you to lose weight, there are unfortunately a large number of fakes now circulating the market.

There are in fact 13 types of Hoodia plants in existence - but only one has the important P57 ingredient, and you can bet that supplements listing only 'Hoodia' do not.

Instead, look for Hoodia Gordonii as the active ingredient. You also need to ensure that the correct part of the Hoodia plant is being used, since only the core of the Hoodia Gordonii plant contains P57.

Many companies will still choose to use other areas of the plant, including the leaves and flowers, yet these have no effect on weight loss. Those who do use these parts can still claim that they use 100% pure Hoodia Gordonii, so you need to be careful in the product you choose.

Is the Product Pure?

When checking the ingredients list you should also check that there are no other ingredients. These are generally known as fillers, and if this is the case then your product is not 100% pure Hoodia Gordonii. For example, if they only give you 60% core Hoodia Gordonii, then the supplement's effectiveness will be reduced by 40%. However, some capsules will list other ingredients which are perfectly acceptable.

This includes gelatin, though anything else means your supplement is not 100% pure. And if the ingredients state 100% pure Hoodia Gordonii extract then this is a false claim.

How to Avoid These Problems

As you can see, there are many ways in which supplement manufacturers will bend the truth slightly in their product descriptions. They may not technically always be lying, but you will not be getting a reliable weight loss product either.
