Ephedra Review
If you are either overweight or obese, then you have probably looked into a number of different diet pills as a way of helping you to lose weight. Though many of these products do live up to their claims and are safe to take, the truth is that the majority of them come with a number of bad side effects. These side effects are usually just inconvenient, but in some cases they can be dangerous and extremely damaging to your health. What is Ephedra? Ephedra is one example of a diet pill that can cause some of these severe side effects. The main ingredient of these pills is known as Ephedrine, which is an extract from a plant that grows in China, Malaysia, Indonesia and other regions of South Asia. These areas have used the plant for generations as a way of treating conditions like hay fever and asthma, however, this newest use of the plant for weight loss is seen to be dangerous, which is why it has been banned by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Banned by FDA 2003 was the first instance when the FDA suggested that using Ephedra Diet Pills could potentially be very dangerous to health due to their severe side effects. After this time, the FDA carried on testing these diet pills through the RAND Corporation. When the findings of these tests came back the evidence was conclusive: Ephedra Diet Pills were responsible for 157 deaths, and this is why the FDA banned use of the drug completely in 2004. There are quite a few countries that still use Ephedra, but the laws around the way it can be used are very strict. The most common reason for death after using Ephedra was through heart attacks or stroke – these happened due to the extreme side effects of the pill. The Side Effects of Ephedra One of the harmful side effects of using Ephedra is that it can make your heartbeat irregular. This is what can cause the heart to beat excessively and faster than it usually would, placing extra stress on the heart – causing it to stop after being overworked. Another side effect is that Ephedra can cause seizures. These can cause both mental and physical harm when they occur. A seizure causes parts of the body to jerk in an extreme motion, and sufferers may also lose consciousness. These can also lead to heart attacks, possibly death, if not immediately treated. A further symptom of Ephedra is high blood pressure, and this is common with a number of other weight loss supplements. However, due to the extra strain that Ephedra already puts on the heart, this side effect can quickly become life-threatening. Many of the deaths as a result of Ephedra came about due to high blood pressure. The users saw this as a normal side effect and left it to become more serious. There are a number of less severe side effects that also occur with Ephedra – anxiety, insomnia, drug dependence and more. Do we recommend Ephedra? Due to its dangerous side effects, we absolutely do not recommend Ephedra. There are too many risks for a short-term gain in terms of weight loss.
